At what point does it say reboot? If it is at the vey end of the installation process, then the installation itself probably is complete, but some system files must be rewritten, which requires the shutdown-reboor sequence.
Now, if the Comcast CD is left in the drive, and auto-play is on, it could bring up the install screen again. Do the install and then, when it says reboot, take out the CD before actually rebooting.
Let me know if this works.
I have a family member who is having trouble installing the Comcast software on his Dell PC. I believe he is using Windows 98. The cable modem uses the USB port to hook up. Whenever he tries to install the software, Windows tells him it must restart. After rebooting the same process is started over and over again. I suggested installing in safe mode but he said the computer won't go into safe mode. He talked to a Dell tech and they said they could fix the problem for a fee. I assume they would tell him what they problem was. Any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
