Question

Comcast cable and samsung tv

Feb 15, 2016 7:52PM PST

For the last 2 months my comcast HD cable box will be working fine and then it will show the letters DVI on the display and the TV will go black. I think the TV actually turns off when this happens. The DVR display goes from 1080 to 420 resolution. I have had 4 different cable boxes, 3 different comcast techs here and many conversations with Samsung. No one knows how to fix it

All makes/models please

Do you have any idea between Comcast/Samsung how many different models there are? Hint: they all aren't the same(!)

Start by providing that info and we can begin to figure out what the techs are missing. Oh, and what other equipment is involved (again, all makes/models- receivers, etc.). Are you using HDMI cables, component cables, DVI? Have you tried different types of cables?? Understand, w/o providing all of these specifics, it's only us guessing to what you actual issue and parameters might be.

the Comcast box is a Motorola RNG 200n HD box The tv is Samsung UN60F6300AFXZA. connected with HDMI cable. the tv is connected to a soundbar and blu ray player. Nothing is in between the cable box and the tv. I have tried other HDMI cable and tried using different HDMI inputs

Please re-read instructions

It would be helpful to know the make/model of the soundbar & blu ray unit too, since if anything is connected via HDMI, this can affect other things potentially. How are these other components connected to your system?

So the constant here is the TV?

While I don't see all the part numbers and details, you are fast approaching it's the TV. Samsung has a history of HDMI handshake issues. This may be another one.

Yes, That's what I am thinking as well. Samsung denies there has been a problem
