Comcast only charges for wireless networking if they provide the router and/or set up the networking for you. So yes, you can get your own wireless router and have your friend set it up for you and Comcast won't charge you extra. ![]()
The only broadband option on my street is Comcast. I currently have Comcast digital cable tv, and quite like it.
I have an Apple PowerBook G4 (with airport, and running 10.3.9), a PSP (802.11b) and a PS2 (ethernet). I'm running dial-up so don't use the PS2 or PSP online.
To have a cable modem will only be worth it if I can connect the Mac and PSP wirelessly, and preferably the PS2 as well, thru ethernet.
From what I've read Comcast have all sorts off additional charges for home networking.
Can anyone confirm if this is indeed the case, or whether I can just get my own wireless router? I have a friend who can set me up, I just need to know if it's viable.
Thanks!
