combined mouse-keyboard input

recently got a bare bone kit, which had a combined input for mouse or keyboard. got around it with usb adapter, but is there any digital keyboard downloadable for mouse only?

You have not mentioned which OS are you using. As mentioned above, you already have an on-screen keyboard with windows 7. In fact Windows XP also offers on-screen keyboard.

is an "either/or" PS2 port. This means one device...keyboard or mouse. For some reason the transition to USB started earlier for mice than it did for keyboards. I suspect this was a BIOS limitation issue in that early USB keyboards had the annoying quality of not allowed BIOS entry during boot. Anyway, if this is true and, you can use the port for either device separately and will need USB for the other.
