Combine old Dell restore partition with C: drive

Jun 24, 2010 2:43AM PDT

When I clean installed WIN7 several weeks ago, I left the old Vista D:\ restore partition alone. Now, I would like to recover the 4.6 Gig it is using and add it to C: drive. Is this do-able? Am I risking C:\ drive data loss? Instructions how to do it?
Thanks!

After you backup.

I have used GPARTED to delete the old restore partition and grow the C drive to fill the empty space but "combine" may mean you have files on the restore partition you want to save. If so, copy those out before you do the work.

Have your 7 DVD handy in case you need to repair the boot area after your GPARTED work.

Sorry, no tutorial here since it's up at the GPARTED site.

I would question the why bother, for the sake that amount of space which will fit on a single dvd.
And if you ever want to get a new pc and pass this one on you could use that to restore to factory settings.

I might just leave the small partition alone.
