A friend came by and wiggled a cable and fixed. It was the end of the cable attached to the screen, which I had not tried.
I have an HP 500 desktop with an HP flat screen monitor, running 8.1. It recently crashed and recovered, but lost all files. I spent some time updating and reinstalling software and files over the last week or so. I just finished hooking up all the wires today.
I started using it again and a couple of hours later, the display went south. There is no red in the display (Firefox icon is blue with chartreuse wrap). Everything has a yellow tint. Also, the type is way too large.
I've reset the monitor to factory settings. I've restarted both the computer and monitor. I went to Microsoft help and found some information on color management, but the instructions don't match my computer.
My search found some things, which I've tried. One thing was that the video card might be bad.
Since I just had the whole thing crash, is this just another thing to indicate it's time for a new system or is it fixable? How do I know?
