Colors Washed Out After Import?

Jul 12, 2007 1:52PM PDT

I have a panasonic pv-gs320 and it works great...but...

When I record video, the LCD on my camera plays it back perfectly, and it looks exactly like I see it with my naked eye. However, upon importing (I've tried both usb and firewire) into movie maker, the color quality degrades a little bit. Sunlight in particular seems paler and duller, and, for example, a bright bright orange object I filmed became more like a peach colored mess. Nothing else seems to be affected (no frame skips, no image distortions, etc.).

This is extremely aggravating to see that the LCD on the camera is giving me better quality than my laptop. It's also very annoying that what I film isn't what I'm getting back in editing.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've noticed the same thing

I have the same camera as you and have noticed the same problem. The quality looks fine when importing and editing captured video. However, after rendering I found some of the clairty and brightness gone.

I'm using Sony's Vegas software for editing and just found a filter that allows me to adjust the brightness and contrast... Hopefully that will help.

Good luck to you.
