"Schools scramble to feed students after coronavirus closures"
ELK GROVE, Calif. (AP) — Kiyana Esco needs free school lunches and breakfasts to feed her six children. But with schools shutting down ..."
My small NM town qualifies almost 100% of kids for such meals. Additional meals are prepared off-budget for homeless students, who aren't always technically registered. (I learned of this just recently.)
Trump is not the only child of privilege in DC with no understanding of this.

Wars on several fronts, all costly. Syria. Afghanistan. Homeland security. Deficits. CO ID19.
Did I miss any?

In fact, "Entitlements" is a sociopolitical word,

as you know. Our SSA payments e.g.
Used like this, there needn't be any such formal aspect. It's a common phrase, as you know.
Used by Mr Tweet-by-tweet, there needn't be any such formal aspect. 'Your entitlement check is in the mail.' Aren't these statements handled by handlers' walkbacks? I haven't seen any mussiluni
The AP has an ongoing truth v. dare on government misstatements. I dropped the WaPost version due to lack of balance and snarkiness. This looks better. One a couple weeks ago caught several Blue candidates ... ummm ... misstating. Usually Trump's though.

As I mentioned to Great recently, I'm not anti-Trump, I'm anti-man's governments.
I don't get fodder for that from the Bible or any wacko religious group. Sad (for y'all) truth is, your system supplies it.
What makes my rants 'legitimate' is that I do offer an alternative. Attested, authoritative, widely known (at least Mt 6:9,10 is), working historically and today.
In a previous opportunity the invitees were distracted and didn't notice. Mt 24:36 ff. And COVID19 is at most a small part of the ch. 24,25 prophecy. Another distraction.
It happens we were just discussing Noah in a study group. Two questions to ask yourself: How many arks did Noah build? Who closed the door a week before the rain? Both answers are "in the Book".

As noted elsewhere, these questions and their answers obtain even if the Bible is myth.

"Trump is not the only child of privilege in DC with no understanding of this."
An understanding of what exactly? Trump isn't the one who demanded that schools be closed long term....most of those decisions were made by Dem local/state leaders, and as usual, they want instant gratification (for political reasons masked as 'concern' for the children) with NO forward thinking when it comes to the aftereffects or consequences. And if they WERE all that concerned about US citizen children, they wouldn't be all in for killing off so many of them over the last 40 years, just to now boohoo over so many illegal ones here going hungry.
Liberal Dems disgust the hell out of me with their phony crap.
Did you know that the Coronavirus bill that Pelosi wanted passed in the House had a number of Dem goodies that they haven't been able to get passed in years, such as tax payer paid for abortions? Leave it to the slimy 'never let a crisis go to waste' camel nose/tent politicians to do whatever they think they can get away with, even when it has NOTHING to do with the Coronavirus...….

They better pray no natural disaster like an earthquake hits their state any time soon because from what I understand FEMA money is being allocated for this particular national emergency. When they DO have natural disasters, how come none of them ever talk about 'how are kids out of school because it got knocked down in a twister" gonna eat?

Sources linked to Republican and Democratic lawmakers had each accused the other side of politicizing the negotiations.

One talking point that emerged during the negotiations was an allegation that Pelosi was delaying or hindering the talks by, according to the anti-abortion website Life News,

The account reported by Daily Caller, however, is one-sided. On March 12, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez characterized the negotiations the opposite way, arguing that it was the White House holding up talks because of its insistence on adding anti-abortion language.

The hold-up appeared to have concerned the inclusion — or lack of inclusion — of what is known as Hyde Amendment language in a proposed plan to create a federal fund to reimburse private insurers for covering the cost of coronavirus laboratory testing. The Hyde Amendment, which is added each year as a rider to the U.S. Health and Human Services funding bill, prohibits the federal government from funding abortions except in rare cases.

Snopes is not privy to specific details of the negotiations between Pelosi and White House staff, and as such we are unable to untangle these competing narratives. The issue, however, is effectively moot:

Speaking of kids waiting for their lunches

Since the kids are sequestered at home.

Your opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone.

When you are making your rounds through the neighborhood, have you thought of delivering "food for kids" along with "sermons for adults"?

You might have more converts AND you could feed the kids.

Well ...
Mar 15, 2020 6:47AM PDT

We don't get "converts". Jehovah is looking for those whose hearts are toward him and his standards. We do the actual seeking, by means of study of the Bible. That's the book he had written for us about himself. Most are not interested. As prophesied.

We "deliver" ~1500 pages of spiritual food, as Jesus did in Samaria. John 4:31-34.

Our meetings are open to all ages, as is the Bible. You would be surprised what children can learn. https://www.jw.org/en/library/books/learn-from-great-teacher-jesus/

There's a term for those who respond to free meals- rice Christians. Jesus encountered them. John 6:25-27. A parable applies to them. Mt 13:1-9;22.

Thank you for the opportunity to spread real news about our work. Happy

That wasn't clear, though. My first sentence was a particular example of collateral damage caused by the pandemic. You responded to that by informing me that the Democrats are responsible for the large scale school closures. Thanks for the update. I thought it was considered medical and governmental responses to a pandemic. Silly me. That explains why the NBA, MLB, NCAA and others are continuing to allow large crowds for their events. No marshmallows they.

Here's a suggested response that would accommodate both of us.
'Pruner, you babbling liberal, don't you know that there are other examples of "collateral damage" from the virus? What about broke airlines? Massive job losses in the sports and entertainment industries? Strained medical facilities?'

in 1933. School was out. Students and their meals were moved elsewhere during rebuilding.
A collateral benefit was that the city is now one of the places where much Depression-era architecture can be found. Art Deco and its offshoot Streamline Moderne. NYC has the Chrysler building. Beautiful, isn't it?

I can only ask this rhetorically
Mar 15, 2020 6:20AM PDT

How in the dickens did we get to a point where schools are now responsible for the nutrition of their students? Such dependencies and inter-dependencies sound like a disaster waiting to happen. I could suggest that children who grow up with these principles already in their young lives are learning a life lesson that should probably not be taught. Somewhere, the lesson should include something about self sufficiency.

I don't have a painless solution for this but, when such things happen, I'd say we should look back and ask how this came to be and either find justification or attempt to reverse the course. There will always be exceptions but letting these exceptions morph into becoming the rule will only lead to more of the same.

As a very mean spirited sounding analogy (but not meant to be so) I'll offer the often told story of some very well intentioned person who offers a free meal to a stray cat at their back door. Quite often they find themselves becoming adopted by that cat permanently....like it or not. /Just my crummy two cents.
