I just got this in my personnal email. I didn't recognize the name, so I forwarded it to the company IT guy. It was back 1 second later. The reply said the message was infected with W32/Bagle.n-mm. Is there a place where you're supposed to send viruses so they can be investigated or their designers can be caught? And also, I opened the email, but not the attachment. can I be infected that way?

the attachment you should be OK. I'm assuming that you have a regular antivirus program? If so, it should have caught it for you plus most antivirus programs also give you a way to submit samples. There are also other ways to submit them but if it were me, I would want to delete it and get it off my computer right away.
