While being a member of Cnet and/or using those links does not make you an affiliate the latter would make you an unpaid referrer. (Some sites pay for such referrals by the general public but Cnet does not.) The tradeoff is that while the links on your website help increase traffic to Cnet you can display a familiar image linked to a trusted source of freeware and shareware. Cnet also recently introduced Cnet member badges, the code for which is now available through the member profiles which serve a similar purpose.

Hi;
I have been wondering why there are URL codes on the download pages? I realize they are for putting on a website or for referring people to the product and where to download it, but is this for an affiliate or referral program? I am a member of CNET, does that also mean I am an affiliate? Or does CNET not have an affiliate and/or referral program?
I did look for the answer in the forum discussions but only got something about the war in Iraq, so any help would be greatly appreciated,
