General discussion

CNET worldwide

Well I was bored so I went a walk over to my local CNET.co.uk site and its not that great Sad

Why does CNET work in the US but not in the UK?

The site design over at CNET.co.uk is quite nice, very clan anyway and the videos seem to been produced with a bit more thought - but they are boring!

I watched a video, I think it was a first look at the thin Motorola and the woman bored me.

Also there is a lace of video over there, the .co.uk weekend projects lack videos - it was quite sad.

SO I went over to CNET.com.au and it looks like it have loads more content but I could not access the videos, which I love so much. Reasons, There are none? Nope - there are links. The don't like me? Maybe? No, I think I need to log in but my proper CNET.com username will not compute over there.

So my trip round the world was somewhat disappointing - glad to be home at CNET.com

Molly Equivalent

Mary Lojkine must be the Molly Wood equivalent in the UK.

No offense to CNET, but I wish they'd get their Flash player fixed, I want to pause the video and then when I click on the play button I want it to pick back up and play, not re-download the entire thing!

flash player

it really needs a cookie (or something like than, not sure how flash code works) to set the volume on the player, so that when you watch loada videos you don't have to keep re setting the sound...

Mad props to CNET UK

It's worth noting that CNET.co.uk launched less than a year ago. I think my colleagues there have done a fantastic job, with a much smaller staff than we have here in the U.S.

Their Crave gadget blog is quite amusing, and they're getting up and running with a podcast. It's more gadget-focused than BOL, but a good listen. Check out the latest at http://crave.cnet.co.uk/0,39029477,49253843,00.htm

Don't give up on our UK cousins--they're up to great things.
