Question

CNET Video Problem

Aug 16, 2014 6:26AM PDT

I am unable to play any videos on CNET sites. I am able to play videos on other sites such as Utube without a problem. I have the latest version of Adobe flash and Internet Explorer installed. The problem started about six or eight months ago.

Just A Thought or Two...

First, CNET videos usually start with an advertisement of one sort or another. If you're running an ad-blocker, or HOSTS file which prevents such adverts from opening, then the video won't play.

Next, CNET videos require your Flash Player settings to be set like this:
Open the Control Panel, then double click on the "Flash Player" icon. When that loads, in the "Storage" tab, make sure you have selected: "Allow sites to save information on this computer".

By the way, which version of Internet Explorer, or browsers are you using when you have the problem? Have you tried a different browser such as Firefox, etc.?

It might also help if we had a link to an example of a video that you're having issues with.

Hope this helps.

CNET Video Problem
Aug 19, 2014 1:32PM PDT

I am running windows 7 with Internet Explorer 11 and Adobe Flash 14.0.o.176. I can not open any videos on CNET. I just get a blank screen. I have checked flash setup and tried disabling every program I thought could possibly cause this problem. Any other ideas?

A Specific Link Please...

For example, the link below works fine on this computer which is setup just like yours, once again, making sure that "Allow sites to save information on this computer" is enabled .

One other note: Have you tried a different browser such as Firefox? Do the videos play in a different browser? If so, then you may need to "reset" Internet Explorer 11. (Open the Control Panel, double click on "Internet Options" icon, then select the "Advanced" tab, then the "Reset" button in the lower portion of the window.

Hope this helps.
