CNET's New Formats

Dec 1, 2006 6:31AM PST

While I understand that this post may not have much influence, considering that CNET put a lot of effort into changing the website. Nevertheless, I feel some compulsion to let CNET know that I do not like having to scroll through all of the entries under a topic in order to find the most recent post. I feel that I'm forced to glance/read through all of the comments over and over while looking for the latest entries. For example, in the Virus & security forum, it used to be easy for me to click on Updates and quickly identify the updates that have been posted since I last looked. Now, with every topic opening with every post already open, it's just taking longer to see what's newest. Very annoying.

This website has, overall, been an invaluable resource for this technologically challenged member. I thought you'd like to know that, too.

Yes! I take all of that back. I now see I can change the view!

Aside from that...

Previously we had "Next undread Post" links that would skip past unread messages and take you directly to the new ones. That was removed in the update but should be restored soon, making it easier to navigate long threads. The forum FAQs are also scheduled to be updated so that the new functionality is clearly defined.

Regards,
John

That's fine, but

I still have to do a lot of scrolling to read the posts.
