CNET Mobile App

Why can I no longer see or post comments on articles on the CNET iOS app? I thought it was a glitch that would be fixed in an eventual update, but it's been like that for a while now.

The latest CNET app release has comments for articles and product reviews now, but for the time being it is "read mode" only. You can read but currently not allowing comment submissions. Our apps team is working on allowing the ability for you to submit comments, however it will be at a later date.

Why the app is in this state.

A few months ago, we switched commenting platforms. And unfortunately the new commenting platform didn't have an out of box solution for apps like ours. They do for mobile web, but not native apps. So because of this set back, the app team had to build the commenting interface from scratch. First phase is to expose comments (which we have now) and second phase is allow you all to submit comments.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I would've love to have comments right out the gate in our app, but unfortunately it just wasn't available in our circumstances and I do again apologize for the inconvenience.

We will get there soon enough. I appreciate your patience.

Thank you,
