CNET Strange behavior

by Jos / August 26, 2011 2:11 AM PDT

Relating two strange occurrences:
1. I decided to download Fences, supposedly a 9.04MB file. I got a 443KB file named cnet_fences_public_exe.exe which I did not dare to use yet.
2. I searched for a new version of Everything. Found Everything Portable from David Carpenter. On Google I found the original link at CNET for Everything from voidtools where I discovered David Carpenter is the contact at voidtools but Everything Portable is not there. Still trying to understand.

Look carefully under the big download button for a Direct Download link.

Sorry but I elect not to discuss the new system but will help you get the file directly.

Just added a forum sticky for this discussion...

I think my own stance against the current iteration of the installer is clear, but hope the sticky creates a unified thread for discussing the issues and hopefully getting the decision makers to revise the current policy. If you would, please post any further comments/questions there.
