You don't tell where you are looking for info, but http://www.google.com/search?q=cmwin.exe gives 112 hits.
http://www.prevx.com/filenames/X3430789557253511941-X1/CMWIN.EXE.html is rather vague; a lot of the other hits (but surely not all) seem to be to torrents (colored red by SiteAdvisor) or games or (some) seem legitimate.
So the first things to do:
- find cmwin.exe on your system
- look at it's properties (is there a version tab?)
- find out how it is being run
Replacing hardware for what could be malware doesn't make sense of course. First a good diagnosis.
Post your findings.
XP Professional workstation locking up with random error message:
"CMWIN.EXE instruction at 0x4005cde refrencing memory at 0x0274e778 could not be read.
I have already replaced the RAM in this system twice. It is DDR2 5400.
I cannot find any info on this error message or on cmwin.exe. Can anyone help? Thanks.
