Resolved Question

Clutch judder exedy

Sep 16, 2017 10:57AM PDT

Hello friends, my machanic changed my Toyota Yaris D4D 2007 clutch manual transmission for an exedy clutch and I'm having some juddering when moving off forward or reversing. I contact the agent from where I got the clutch and told me that the clutch is good and the problem is because I don't use the accelerator. My answers was why on original clutch didn't happened too. The other issue is that when the engine is cold I have problems removing the first gear like I'm not pressing the clutch. I'm very disappointed with exedy clutchs and I don't recommend no one not to use original parts since they are not taking their responsabilities since the agent contact exedy company as he told me. Thanks for your comments in advance

Hi, Malteserrrr; I have never heard of an "exedy" clutch. Extra heavy duty? Whatever.....Did your mechanic replace the pressure plate at the same time? Was the flywheel resurfaced at the same time?
If either of these was not done, could be the cause. Grease or oil on the flywheel can also cause a "juddering". Hot spots in the flywheel, also..... I would suggest having your mechanic recheck the problem. If he refuses, then you may have to have it redone by someone else and sue the first mechanic to get your money back?
Good luck.

hydraulics

A hydraulic clutch is similar system to hydraulic fluid in braking system. If they have air in the line, it can interfere with proper working of brakes, or in your case the clutch. This problems sounds very similar to air in brake lines in how it works better after warming up.
