Sometimes when loading new software, I get the message "close all programs before installing" How do I close all programs and how do I know which process to click on "end process in task manager?
Also, is there a way to identify each item in the running "processes" in task manager/

In short, I find that if nothing is in the task bar, and if applicable, the AV is disabled, that's as far as I've ever needed to go with this.

If you find something that calls for more, then do tell.

To be perfectly honest with you, I have disregarded the message you get and it doesn't make a single bit of difference. The message I suspect is for the viewing of people with lower end machines that cannot handle too many processes at once without hanging. I have an AMDXP2000+ processor with a 7200rpm drive. The thing that makes me laugh is if you download a program from the internet that uses the internet connection whilst installing and tells you to close all programs but then tells you to keep the browser open????
