Question

close internet explorer

Dec 14, 2013 9:36AM PST

My adobe flash player needs to update. it gets to 50 percent then tells me to close internet explorer. IE doesn't give me the choice of closing. it will let me delete it, but that seems like a bad idea. I must be missing something ez. please tell me in grandma terms how to do this. thank you.

Answer
The Adobe Flash Player installer cannot proceed
Dec 14, 2013 11:10PM PST

with the installation with IE open because it needs to install a piece of code into IE.

The window you see, the one with the progress bar, is NOT happening in IE, it's just a window that shows in front of IE, which makes it look like part of IE.
The Flash Player Installer is completely separate from IE.

Just go to the top right corner of the IE window and hit the white X inside the Red box and IE will close and the Flash Player installer will continue.

running.

Try again but when you think that all is closed, press CTRL + Alt + Delete and open task manager.
If IE is running, you will see it under Applications

It it is, highlight it and stop it running.
