I've been to the developer meetings and due to how apps are sand boxed it means any app can't do that. I'd have to do this outside the TV and a PC would make this trivial. As more of those Android TV sticks come out, the price will fall.

By any chance, does anyone know if it is possible to watch TV and have the time displayed in a corner?
I've got a samsung TV UE55ES8000 and was wondering if there was an app that would run in background mode and display the time but I couldn't find one.
Any ideas?
