Client: Same SSID but choosing a particular channel

by chow_yee / October 30, 2004 4:33 AM PDT

Hi. I am studying in a college with wireless facilities. I am using Dell Inspiron 5100 notebook with Dell Truemobile 1450 wireless card.

The situation is like this. My college has a few access points, all with the same SSID, but with different channels. Currently, there are channels 7 and 11, but the AP at channel 11 is not properly connected to the internet. So I have to connect to the AP with channel 7 to access the internet.

My friend's computer who is using a DLink PCI card can detect both the 11 and 7 at the same time. However, my Dell Wireless Utility seems to be choosing the 11 for me, and does not give me a chance to choose channel 7 at all.

Is there any way for me to overcome this? Thank you very much.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
