I disjoined the client PC from the network, re-ran connectcomputer wizard, still bad, uninstalled/reinstalled TCP/IP on the NIC all is good.
Hello,
I recently upgraded my Exchange server (Asus K8N-DL, dual Opteron, 4GbRAM, Win SBS Premium, basic single file server, 9 clients) from onboard RAID 1 to 3ware 9000 series RAID 5 controller. Being lazy, I brought the server, one client PC (Win 2k Pro) and the router home. I am using the router for DHCP and all clients' NICs point to the SBS box NIC.
I connected the client to the router through Cat5, not wireless as in my office to check the function of the array after upgrade, all went fine and dandy.
Since I had some shutdown issues with the client and some spare time I decided to do a Win 2K repair procedure on it. That went fine also.
When I returned the gear to the office, the Linksys router's intermittent power cable stopped working completely, so I replaced it with a new D-link DI-804HV VPN/router. It was an upgrade I had planned for later, but forced to do now. The SBS box's IP address changed.
I allowed SBS' Wizard to configure the router, then pointed all the clients' NICs to the new address. Every machine works perfectly with the exception of the machine I took home.
It connects to the server fine, logs on fine, accesses files fine, Outlook 2003 opens and POP3 email comes through, but after 'Trying to Connect' it ends up Disconnected. I received an error message (0x8004011D) 'The server is not available contact yourself if this condition persists'.
I did some web research and downloaded the full SP3 for Office XP, still problems. One site,
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=http%3a%2f%2fwww.support.microsoft.com%2fkb%2f327291%2f
suggests a hotfix is available by calling MS, but I'd rather ask the experts here first.
The only entries in the Event Log from the Client PC are Warnings, not Errors, they are W32 time Event ID 54 and Print Event 20.
Like I said, it sends & receives POP3 email (Not using Exchange as Internet email server right now, all at the client end) through Outlook 2003 fine, it just cannot connect to Exchange to view Public folders or interoffice email. I have not attempted to connect it with Cat5, just wireless. Any help will be appreciated.
