General discussion

Clie Peg-UX50

I need to install Sony Palm Desktop ver.4.1 (4.1 shipped with the unit) on another PC so I can HotSync my Clie Peg-UX50. I lost the install CD that came with the unit, so I downloaded the Palm Desktop software from the sonyclie.org site, installed it, and it runs fine. When I connect the unit via USB and try to HotSync it, the "Found New Hardware" wizard pops up and prompts me to point it to the software to run the device. However, it does not recognize the Palm Desktop running on the PC. No matter what I do, I can't get my Clie recognized by my PC to HotSync it. How can I fix this issue? BTW, I need to do this because the HD on the PC I was using to backup my data is on the verge of kicking the bucket.

About that data on the hard disk.

My Palm directory and data fits on one CDR so the question is why wouldn't I backup now?

As to the Clie. You'll have to excuse me as I've solved this first hand too many times. But I'm finding that in forums it's nearly impossible since people can't post about the make, model PC. The worst offenders are home built machines.

And about the CD. You'll scrounge on ebay, craigslist and freecycle.

I have the same problem. Did you ever get your problem resolved and how did you do it? Please help.

Solved it too many times.

Again, the folder is so small I can email it to myself or pop it on dropbox.

The CD is now harder to find but it's still a good idea to look on Ebay.

And I'm still here maintaining PalmOS apps. Still solving such issues as above.
