Clicking shortcuts on desktop only brings up properties box?

by kegizsftzp / July 10, 2006 6:46 AM PDT

Sometimes when I double click my shortcuts on my desktop the program doesn't open up. Instead the properties window pops up. This is not happening with just one of my shortcuts this is happening with all of them. I usually do a restart to fix this problem and it doesn't happen any more but that is only a temporary fix because it often happens again when I startup my computer. What is the reason for this? Is anybody else having this problem?

Thanks in advance

click on the shortcut? I always click once, not double click. Also, could it be your mouse? Or loose were it is plugged in? Darrell Lewis

Believe me, most likely it is caused by keyboard. I also get similar problems sometimes. It's related with the SHIFT, CTRL, ATL key status of your keyboard. When this problem occur, just press those keys several times and then the problem will gone. (By pressing, I mean press the SHIFT key, release, press, release, just repeat several times, then the CTRL key , then the ALT key)

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
