You should link your preferred browser to the "protocol" association for http:// and https://, not in a filetype association. What filetype did you change?

Hi,
I tried posting this in "Newbies" but it wouldn't let me.
I've recently had my laptop serviced and upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I tried using Microsoft Edge but hated it, so I reverted to IE11. I also downloaded "Classic Shell" as I also hate the Windows 10 format. I'm using Office 2003 and Outlook 2003.
When I click on a link in a received email, it takes me to my home page every time. If I click on a link in a Word file, it takes me to the correct webpage. So it seems to be confined to Outlook.
The problem arose when, after the upgrade, I clicked on a link in Outlook and a message appeared asking me to change my file association. I Googled this and found an advice that suggested I go to C/Program Files x86/Internet Explorer and copy and paste "iexplorer" into the file association box. This enabled the link to be opened but it always takes me to my home page.
Any assistance will be much appreciated.
