"Click to listen" - is it possible?

Mar 16, 2005 10:58PM PST

Do you suppose there is any practical way to embed a short sound (wav/midi)file in an email message? I am not talking about putting the sound in as background to a html-formatted message, so that it plays automatically when the message opens.

I would like to be able to have the message recipient read my message and, where the text says "click here to listen" the sound file would play after clicking on an embedded graphic or picture.

I don't know the technical aspects of doing this, but perhaps there is a script of some sort that might work? I currently use Outlook Express. However, I'd change if a different program allows embedded sounds in mail messages. Thanks.

only attach the music file? How do I make a dynamic connection between, say, a small graphic button placed in the text and that attached music file?

With that I don't have to make the reader listen to the music (or sound) playing constantly. It'll play only when the reader clicks the button. Appreciate it.
