Click to DVD Problem

Jun 17, 2005 5:54AM PDT

I recently purchased a Sony VAIO Media Center PC running Windows XP Media Center 2005.

I've been able to burn shows that I want to watch again to DVD, two weeks ago, I install Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator 6(so that I could view discs not closed on my other PC). Since then, whenever I open Sony's Click to DVD software, it tells me that the DVD writer drive is not connected and/or powered on.

I hooked up my HP external DVD writer, but C2DVD won't see that either.

I uninstalled Roxio, uninstalled C2DVD and re-installed just C2DVD, but still, it won't 'see' the drive.

I even went back to the restore point just prior to Roxio (and when C2DVD worked), but still nothing. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Are the devices showing in the BIOS screens?

What does BELARC ADVISOR show?

The first item was worth a shot because "it's the usual".

Same problem, different software
Jun 22, 2005 12:47PM PDT

I'm having the same problem with an HP external DVD drive - I cannot get my win xp system to pick it up as a drive. It keeps telling me it's not connected. New hardware shows USB storage device but is not recognized as a drive. So I don't know if it's the software. I'm still stumped - have you figured anything out yet?

Thanks

No one can help you. Here's why.

While you mention different software, you never reveal its name. Some software such as Roxio and others have a drive support list. I can't check such since you didn't share the software name and version.

Also, all the other machine details are unknown.

As an aside, I am a bit offended by the title of your posting and the tone of your note. Even more surprised to see this from a moderator.

I see the issue.

With every post you make, the following words in RED are above the entry boxes:

''Note: If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem.''

My replies are to nudge the poster to fill in the blanks, but some take it that I'm being pushy. Why not honor the note above? You don't have to answer.

As to my tone, I will not alter it or sugar coat my postings since that will add time and effort to solve your issue. All I ask is that you supply the needed info. Which seems to have worked.

-> With an USB 1.1 connection to the HP DVD Movie Writer 3000, you can not write DVD media. It's that simple.

Try adding an USB 2.0 PCI card. It's about 10 bucks and will enable use of the DVD Movie Writer.

Best of luck,

Bob
