Download and use "IEFix" - a general purpose fix for Internet Explorer (Win 98/ME/2000/XP):
a. Registers Urlmon.dll, Mshtml.dll, Actxprxy.dll, Oleaut32.dll, Shell32.dll, Shdocvw.dll, [Q281679].
b. Refreshes Internet Explorer using IE.INF method. Note:
"Unable to Install Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP (Q304872)"
"How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP (Q31837
"
c. Initiates "SFC /Scannow" (Win2K&XP), [Q310747].
I use Windows 98 with IE6 and sometimes MOZILLA.
Lately, when I click links in web pages or in Outlook Express, a new window opens (as expected) but there is nothing in the address bar and it just sits there as a transparent window as if it's waiting for me to do something else. So I click STOP which brings up the message about offline browsing, then I click REFRESH and now it goes and brings in the web page. This does not happen using MOZILLA or FIREFOX so I assume it's a setting in IE6. I've already tried resetting to default, reloading IE6, repairing IE6. My fear is that MOZILLA or FIREFOX has changed something required by IE6. I've also found it necessary to do a number of REFRESHES to get many web pages to fully load. Any thoughts, anyone? PS. I've uninstalled FIREFOX.
