Windows itself does not maintain a list of CDs it has encountered. The individual music applications you use may have such a feature, but the 'standard' is for the information to be retrieved at the time the CD is inserted, from the CD itself and from online databases.
Also, information (metadata) about songs that have been ripped from CD is stored within those music files.

Can anyone please help? I am wondering where is CD information stored on my hard drive? I am using Windows Vista. What I would like to do is completely erase all ripped CD information from my hard drive. So when I insert a music CD into my drive, no old CD information is retrieved.
