Cleanning up faxed and scnanned text & line drawings

Aug 2, 2006 3:14AM PDT

So far, be best program that I've found for cleaning up text and line drawings after being captured via faz (delivered in an e-mail) or scanner is InLite Research's ClearImage Repair (they have a free SDK). I'm not looking for OCR software. I'm just trying to clean up the image. Their free SDK is actually pretty good -- the user does have the restriction of applying the software to one page at a time. I'd be interested in buying the program itself except that it runs for the same price (close to four hundred dollars) as OCR software. Any suggestions concerning an alternative? I know that Pegasus Imaging Corp.'s ScanFix (at three times the cost of ClearImage) is an alternative but also an unknown as a demo is not available.
