Cleaning up a DELL notebook

Mar 10, 2005 10:20PM PST

Hey,

I just sold my DELL Inspiron 4150, and I need to clean everything out except the stuff that came with it when I got it. Do I just reformat everything, or is there something special I can use to clean everything off the HD except for windows ?

Dear biotechie, before delivering your notebook make sure that you have saved and backed up your data. Then take a good look at the notebook. How would you want it to be if you were the buyer? Firstly, use your Dell Restore or Recovery CDs which will erase all your data and settings and may reformat the hard drive automatically and restore the notebook to the state in which it was originally shipped from the factory. Secondly, use an air blower to blow air into the keyboard, vents and other small gaps so as to blow away all the hidden dust and misc unwanted particles. Then take a clean soft cloth, dampened in warm water and wipe the exterior. As for the TFT screen, try to use an LCD cleaning kit which will realy clean it without any marks or left over stains which may be the case with a dampened cloth.
In case you are unable to get the seams/small gaps or holes cleaned effectively, use an old but clean tooth brush on that and then wipe it clean.

HOPE IT WORKS AND U MAKR THE CUSTOMER HAPPY!!
