Cleaning out an old computer

Jul 14, 2004 11:30AM PDT

I'm getting rid of an old computer and after I copy all of the files that I want, I'd like to clean all my personal info off of the hard drive (web history, credit card info, cookies, etc.) Is there a program I can download to safely remove all of this stuff?

It's for an old windows 98 system.

thanks

No. The only safe method known is to get a disk wiping program (there are free ones!) and then wipe the drive and reinstall the OS. Since it's a giveaway, why be concerned if the OS is loaded?

Dear Bob,
Thanks for the info. Is there any disk wiping program you could suggest?

I bought a program called WipeDrive and find it very easy to use.
