Mike,
The problem arises with traditional "forwarding" of e-mail. When you get a message from a friend that you would like to pass along, simply create a "new" message instead of clicking on the "forward" button at the top of the message. (Clicking the "forward" button passes along all the addresses that came with the original message.) Leave the current message open, highlight the text, or make a copy of any pictures that you want to send on, then open a new message and "paste" the text or picture into the new message. Add the name of your intended reciever in its normal place (the "To" line) and send the "new" message. By following this procedure, all of the other e-mail addresses from the previous message will not be passed on.
In addition, if you would like to send the message to multiple receivers, simply place everyone's addres in the "BCC" (Blind carbon copy) section, place YOUR address in the "To" line, then send the message. Of course you will get a copy of the message back, but everyone in the BCC list will receive a copy of the message and their addresses are hidden.
Hope this helps.

I read something about cleaning up email before you send it so you don't send other people's email address to everybody else. Can someone please tell me how to do it?
