I have not tried doing it as I have 496,000 files (72GB used) on my WinXP HD so a gig here or there would not make a difference being deleted for me.
someone posted a link to MS in England and an article written by one of their VP's as to what files/ folders could be deleted after a clean install of SP-2.
while I am not concerned about a major space saving, my AV and Spyware scanners take a lot longer as a result of having to scan all [including these deleteable] folders.
can someone please post that link.
