Question

Classified script

Sep 18, 2016 8:37PM PDT

I am looking for Classified script that is set up for Australia use. I have only $100 to spend as we are a FB group at this stage. I need a script that lists all Australian towns and cities and has a good choice of templates. Can you help me please. Regards Wayne McFarlane

Clarification Request
There are scripts for WIndows, Web pages and well

The list is very long. If I were to guess, I wonder if you wanted to make your own web site and you wrote in "code" that you wanted all that was needed to run a site for classifieds.

To run such a site you would have a web master to setup the site and get it running and then continue to maintain it. Do you have the position filled on your team? If not that is your next step.

I see that sites or rather your hosts can be on PHP 2 or 3 and some do both, some do not.

I hope you can understand that the more you know, the easier your search will be on google.

Also, I've yet to find such a script to be something we install and run. That is, some programming required. If you don't have a programmer, ever consider a move to WordPress?

Word Press

Yes I have seen many Word press scripts but they are all USA based. When I ask if they have an AU. version I get a no. I know there is some editing to be done with any program and yes word press looks like an easy way to go. But first I need a script that has all Au. programed into it.

OK, it appears there is more to this than what you lead with

There are for hire boards to create such things. I was under the impression that it was a Classified such as a newspaper. I've read such in various countries and maybe there's more untold about what this does?

There's a well known issue with getting programmers to do what you want. That is, you lead with a script but next it was PHP, and now it's something about AUS but I can't see where that matters for the run of the mill classifieds.

This is what folk melt down over. The programmer or such can't know what isn't told. And if you keep moving the goals (or goal posts) the project usually folds.

If there's no ready code or data ...

for Australia, you would have to make that yourself. If your hourly tariff for yourself is zero, that's free.

If I would make a site like that, I wouldn't make the code location independent. All geography should be in a data file, so the same code could be used for any country for which such data was available. Like my GPS can be used for every country they sell a map for. All I have to do is buy it and install it. I'd hardly call that setup.
