Civilisation 4 and Hyper Threading

Feb 21, 2006 8:08PM PST

I have a Pentium 4 3.06 it allows hyperthreading however it is disabled in BIOS. I have had many problems running Civ 4 - runs for about 15-20 mins then crashes out. My graphics card is ATI Radeon 9600 and at 6.2 I have DIV X 9c - which tests separately ok. Could it be that I should have hyperthreading enabled? If so can I enable it in BIOS and just reboot without having to reinstall XP PRO. Or are there other things I must do? Please khelp me my young sons are threatening to lock my in thje cellar if I fail to sort this out.

But it was heat related and I've yet to find disabling HT to help speed up or fix a game.

Is Enabling HTworthwhile and easy?

Originally we had dust / heat problems too. That was resolved with a good dusting. At the moment HT is disabled, could things improve if I enabled it. If I were to enable it, what are the steps in the process. Presumeably I have to enable it in BIOS and then what do I do?
