Cingular or T-Mobile for Texas?

Dec 6, 2004 5:06AM PST

I currently have T-Mobile, have great coverage, no dropped calls, or other problems with the phone itself, but am considering Cingular for the mobile to mobile aspect. I've read more negative than positive reviews here, but am curious about my area in particular, the south central area of texas. I would greatly appreciate any input. Thanks!

Hmm... just about everyone I know has Cingular, but then Cingular is pretty much the only provider in my area. I tend to have alot of dropped calls, but then I'm also on a phone that came free with the plan (upgrading soon). The mobile-to-mobile is really nice to have. Since I'm partners with my dad in a small business we started, we rely heavily on cell phones for communications.

I haven't had any experience with any other companies though. Maybe someone has had even better luck than I have...

Cingular

I have not used T-Mobile (TMO), but all the management in my company does. They say a they lot of dropped calls on TMO.

I am not working for Cingular.
I bought Cingular on 11/20. I love it so far. The coverage and dropped calls depend on location, but here in Minneapolis, MN I had only one dropped call, while my friends from Verizon or TMO experience them at least once a week. You also have 30 days trial period @ activation cost plus cost of calls. Don't like it you can return it.

So far I had a good experience with Customer support and I will give you my examples:
1)- Road assistance: They added it (first 60 days for free) to my account services. I had to call and cancel it. This took me less than 2 minutes. No problem with CS at all.
My Motorola MPx220 phone: Earphone is very quiet - called CS and complained. I was on the phone for 10 minutes while the CS arranged for a phone replacement.

So far I really had a very good experience with Cingular.

Cingular or T-Mobile

Emily21,
I have been a Cingular customer for 3 years now in the San Antonio area and from my perspective, they are the best in the area. Most of my co-workers use other carriers and they frequently complain of service related problems (no service, dropped calls, ect). I have great reception with almost no dead areas. Their rollover minutes program really helps eliminate overage charges. Their weakness though is instore service. They are woefully under-staffed. For the record, I have also used AT&T as well as Sprint concurent with Cingular, so I have been able to compare Cingular's service side by side to the other two. I highly recommend Cingular.
