Chromecast

Dec 2, 2014 7:34AM PST

I have this working on my main TV set, but i wanted it more for my bedroom TV. I got as far getting to the app and when i click on download on my Nexus 7 tablet, I get a message that "Gmail has stopped"...huh!! then a small message appears to report it to Google. I have done this for the past few days and that message always comes up that it stopped. BTW, while on the subject of this gadget, I witnessed a Youtube demo on 5 tricks you need to know about your Chromecast. The video shows a girl walking over to her TV set and just plug in the gadget by itself, no power cable to usb attached. Is this possible? I tried it on my TV set and the gadget doesn't even light up, unless I attached the usb power cord to it, plus I have to go to source to make sure the right hdmi port is chosen, which the demo does not even bother to show.

Nice to read you have a Nexus 7. I have the Gen 1 model on my desk and about all I can offer is that this message has a lot of prior discussions.

I don't see anything that tells me it's always the same thing. Do you?

I don't understand that statement of yours.

Neither do I.

The causes appear to be many so I think your best bet is to pick a few prior reports and try what they tried.

Here I had a few too many apps on my Nexus 7 Gen 1 32GB tablet and it got better after I did a factory reset.

Haven't heard a single positive thing

I was considering getting a chromecast, but I feel like everything I have heard about it is negative. Im thinking the fire stick might be better at this point, which is a shame.

We have a few here.

I don't think it's that bad, but it is rather techy and not what many folk expected. For about the same price I think most folk should look at the Roku Stick or Amazon Fire Stick.
