Question

Chrome problem. Error code: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Mar 9, 2015 6:13AM PDT

I am having problems with Chrome, over the past several days. I try to go to a website and resolving host appears on the bottom left of the page. I then get a message saying the page is unavailable. This is the error message I receive:

Error code: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Pages formerly loaded immediately but now take longer. This was an intermittent problem; but is now becoming a constant problem. I have tried several of the fixes and even uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome.

I have checked, unchecked, and checked again Predict network actions to improve page load performance. Still the same results.

I have unplugged my router and then plugged it in again. Still the same problem.

What do I need to to fix this problem?

Please let me know ASAP as it is critical I get my computers back in proper working condition. System restore did not help either.

The problem exists on both my laptop and desktop.

Thank you,

I am not duplicating prior discussions. I'd reset chrome as a start.

PS. Reset is needed even when

You uninstall and reinstall since parts, settings and addons survive uninstall.

If I am reading your reply correctly, I need to uninstall and then reinstall again correct? I did this yesterday but am still having the same issue. I will do it again if you think that would solve it.

reset chrome?

How do I go about resetting chrome? Do I uninstall and reinstall again? My OS is Windows 8.1 if that makes any difference.

Thank you

Remember that such is on the web.

Uninstall and reinstall does not clean it off entirely. Settings can remain so I thought you could try this next.

Use a search engine and ask "How do I reset the Chrome browser."

Many apps today need to be reset like this.

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/nanfBxleQpw for example has all the other advice. I only added one that I missed in that prior discussion.

Yes, there are folk lamenting about this issue. They wrote "Hey how do you explain this to someone with no goshdarn computer file experience? I have NO idea what you guys mean by administrator command things- and I need a solution that's explained for a newb."

Answer? It's often where folk pull out an iPad.
