Question

Chrome no longer remembering my Advanced searches

Oct 25, 2018 12:31PM PDT

When I search for a word or phrase and go to "Settings > Advanced Search" and type in a web address in "site or domain:" and then perform the advanced search, the next time I go to use the advanced search feature, the website (and others) no longer pop up when I double click in the search box. I have been able to do that for years. I recently reinstalled Windows 10, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Any idea if there's a setting I need to change for this to work again?

Here's a prior discussion about typing in the address bar.

Not an address bar issue

My address bar remembers fine. My issue is with Chrome not remembering what I put in "site or domain:" in "Advanced Search."

Clarifying.

I went to settings on Chrome Version 70.0.3538.77 (Official Build) (64-bit) and no Advanced Search there.

However there is a web page at https://www.google.com/advanced_search which is not the browser but google's own site. So I'm looking for where this is in the browser. Where is that?

This appears to not be a Chrome thing but a Goggle thing. Maybe Lazarus is the answer. Or you are not logged into Chrome. The log in to Chrome was changed in the last version so when you are at https://www.google.com/advanced_search does it show your avatar?

So is this Chrome or Google? I think it's Google.

My bad, it is that Google page you linked to, not Chrome. I am using Google through Chrome, though.

I am logged into Google and Chrome. Yes, my avatar shows.

I just Googled "Lazarus." I did not have that extension.

I'm going to have to test this out.

I don't use Google's advanced search page very often so the text boxes here have no history so I can't see if it works here or not. I'll kick it around a little and if need be try Lazarus.

Wish I had a fast answer for you but as it stands it's a mashup of Google's web pages and Chrome. I've turned on tracking of this thread so I can get back here if I find it does or does not work for me.
