Resolved Question

Chrome forgets . . .

by Coryphaeus / December 28, 2017 7:59 AM PST

Just got a refurbished IBM Lenovo desktop that came with Chrome browser, latest version. I configured it as the default browser. But every time I open it, it asks me if I want it to be the default browser. I click yes and to remember it. But the next time I open it I get the same message. I have gone through settings and set it as the default browser. In other words, it forgets. And I have the same problem with MS Outlook.

Any thoughts?

The problem you are mentioning seems to be related to Windows and profiles of various applications not being saved. In other words, profiles are not being saved or are corrupt. Since your refurbished IBM Lenovo Desktop is not saving default browser settings for Chrome and certain settings for Outlook, Windows updates may be needed. You may also want to reinstall Chrome and Outlook if Windows Updates does not resolve the issue with profiles. On Chrome, verify that History of browsing is being saved, too. If there are no cookies in the browser, you will be asked if you want Chrome to be your default browser.
