The internet service provider can explain you about the speed andit depends upon how much internet you are using.
My mom is not a tech person and is greatly frustrated with slow internet speeds from Comcast, even with a new modem supplied a few months ago. The company says she's paying for up to 6 mbps, but repeated tests I've done -- on desktops and laptops, using wifi and direct Ethernet cables, and with Windows 7 through W10 systems -- show the best download speed at 3.6 and mostly in the 1.7 to 3.0 range. Comcast finally sent out a tech person and, no surprise, he recommended upgrading, at additional cost, of course. I've tried looking up internet services in her area and am overwhelmed by the flood of information, all of which is incomplete, thus making comparisons impossible. Is there a way to judge one service's value vs. another's without having to get on the phone for hours and talk to sales people? Thanks for any suggestions.
