What you're asking for would cost thousands of dollars in DSLR and lens equipment. The lens alone to shoot from the stands in low light sports would probably be the 300mm F2.8 lens and that's around $4000.
You'll just have to get the best superzoom you can and live with the blurry/noisy photos in low light sports. I'd look at the Panasonic superzooms, they make the best superzoom cameras right now.
Please help this newbie! My son plays football and I would like to be able to zoom in close to capture faces from the bleachers. The other requirement, then, would be that I can take great photos in the low field lighting. Also, I'd like to take photos at his theatre performances (without flash, of course). The problem is, I don't have lots of time to study complicated procedures. Also, I'd like for the use to be at least close to "point-and-shoot". Also, would like to stay at $500 or so. Am I asking for too much? I don't even know the difference between an SRL and .....?
Thanks!
