Question

choosing download method

Jul 20, 2015 10:57AM PDT

Win 7. I used to be given a choice like winrar or vlc etc when I clicked to download a movie or zip file. Now I do not,it always automatically picks winrar. How do I regain the right to choose instead of always using winrar?? There used to be the option to open or save, someone here chose something and I need it back like original Thank you

Answer
It Depends on the Browser

For example, in Firefox, click on "Tools" in the upper left, choose "Options", then in the "Downloads" section, place a CHECK mark in the "Always ask where to save files" section. Unfortunately, you didn't tell us which browser is involved in the "Download" of a movie or zip file from the internet.

It's also important to remember that some programs tend to take over the process. Temporarily uninstalling the program may be necessary to get back to the default settings.

Hope this helps.
