Choosing a sound system/receiver

Jul 13, 2009 10:40AM PDT

Hi, I am a fairly broke college student looking for a sound-system for my dorm. I am primarily a gamer, and one who loves a good sound. I have found a Bose Acoustimass 3 Series IV speaker system for $200. I know Bose is a fantastic system, its a 2.1 which is all that I need, and its a price I can live with. Now for the question, I play xbox360 a lot, I use it as my dvd player, and my TV can't do surround sound. So if I do get this system do I need a receiver to put between the speakers and the TV, or is there a better system I can get instead of the Bose?
