Chipset Compatibility with Processor

Dec 3, 2009 10:29PM PST

This will be my 1st laptop purchase. Years ago when I was in the market to build a desktop, I learned about 440BX chipset. My baby (ASUS P2B, 100Mhz)might run slow but still without a hitch. It was a good marriage. So my question is what is a similiar "marriage" for the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor? I have been looking at both ASUS and Toshiba laptops.
Are there any reviews to this end? Any help would be appreciated.

While this was a big desl with build it yourself desktops, laptops are pre-engineered solutions so there should be few to no reviews found. That does not mean you can't go find out what they used then head to intel.com for data sheets.

The term barebones in laptops means a system where a HD and basically memory is added but some can use multiple graphics cards. barebones for desktops is completely different.
