or use similar tool like DBAN
Wiping it completely should help you recover the drive's size and there you can start to fresh install Windows.
If this incident started only when you plug-in the SD card, I suggest that before you use DBAN to wipe your computer... reformat the SD card because that is maybe infected when you tried to plugin and access it. Did you plug it in and access the SD card?
I need help or guidance from knowledgeable people.... Two months ago I ordered a 4GB SD card from online, shipped from China. No problems to date, but didn't realize I can't use it. I stuck it in everything I had. PC acted funny. Used McAfee Security Suite (never again). No issues found. Loaded spybot, pc wouldn't let it load. Loaded in safe mode and pc went berzerk when started in normal mode. Windows Live One Care loaded and found the virus and removed.
Ok. A few weeks to a month later I got a trojan. It was on the pc 6 hrs before Windows Defender found it. Can't remember the name, but I saw it and have screen shots. It copied the hard drive and uploaded the files. I think it attacked Windows Defender when uncovered and when I tried to stop it systematically hogged the resources so I could do nothing but unplug it. It used a USB flashdrive to migrate to my laptop.
I reformatted everything, tried AVG, now use Eset NOD32. However, here is the underlying issue. I now can no longer get all of the hard drive space on any hard drive as I used to have. I know, people say system info, but not like this. Example: Laptop-85 gb, used to get 82 on a reformat can get no better than 76. Desktop-120gb, used to get 119 on a reformat now can get no better than 111 to 114. Same with SD cards, USB flash drives.
I started learning about disk editor programs. I use Acronis Home Image and previewed Disk Director. I discovered that there are hidden partions with Scramdisk and Netware 3+ o/s and the scramdisk is bootable.
Can, has, or is it possible that whatever I got has created these partions and I cannot get rid of it? Infecting 3 hard drives, 2 external drives. And it learns. It is hiding itself better but still copying. Eset never found it either.
