China tells new Pope to break ties with Taiwan

BEIJING - China has called on the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church to break ties with Taiwan and stay out of China's internal affairs.

Just hours after Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was named Pope Benedict XVI, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said Beijing is willing to improve the relationship between China and the Vatican on two conditions.

...Pope Benedict speaks at least 7 languages fluently. Therefore, it appears that he has a number of ways in which to tell the PRC where to go and the means of transportation it should use to get there...
