Question

cheapest smart watch with heart rate monitor

Jan 22, 2015 9:34AM PST

Hello

There wasn't a category for smart watches so I randomly choose Android just to get started. Hope some of you dont mind ( re: Mods )

Im looking for a cheap smart watch with a heart rate monitor built in. Its for my mom who likes to take brisk walks but isn't a techie.

Ive seen the Samsung Fit watch but its $120 and it needs the Samsung phone to track heart rate I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Anything out there?

Thanks

According to their store, they're available now.

To see the details on the Fitbit Charge HR, here's the link
https://www.fitbit.com/store . I don't know anything about these other than what I see on their web site. My wife has their Flex gizmo she got for Christmas. She uses it to track footsteps and likes it. YMMV.

Cool shop! Never heard of it before. Read the reviews as well and unfortuatenyl they won't so favourable. One guy said the HR feature wasn't accurate or fairly accurate : (

Good price though. Thanks for the find!

The thing is.

Given the nature of these things, the HR tends to be less than 100% spot on. I owned such over the years, the first being the one where you place your finger on the watch (decade ago) and if you want medical grade accuracy, all the fitness bands would be inaccurate.

Two new Fitbit fitness trackers went on sale in the United States and Canada on Tuesday. Fitbit will start shipping its first smartwatch, Surge, which costs $249.95, and has built-in GPS for runners and an optical heart rate monitor, and can display notifications and control your phone in addition to fitness tracking.

You are looking for a smart watch with specific feature like heart rate monitor. I think for the specific features Modular smart watch is best. You can add new features on this smart watch and it will cost extra $20-$40 for each feature.
