and anyone can possibly register for an account, so one need to take some precaution while dealing. Although I am lucky as I didn't really do much background checking on the seller, I will.

Do post questions to the seller, check the feedback of them and the seller's location and you should be fine. Any unrealistic selling price should put you in a caution mode.
